Director of Technology
Position Overview
We are looking for a Director of Technology. This Director will be responsible for the overall system architecture & technology of a SaaS workflow & financial application.
Responsibilities
- Perform technological research and evaluation to support selection and implementation of technologies.
- Develop software frameworks for SaaS applications.
- Develop software design and specification development.
- Guide software development projects from architecture through implementation, managing team of software engineers in R&D, guiding QA engineers through testing process and implementation engineers through implementation process.
- Evaluate other companies' technology to support M&A activities.
Requirements
5 years experience as a Manager or B.S. or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering and 3 yrs exp as a Manager Experience in:
- Software architecture and design.
- Developing and deploying at least one large scale web based enterprise level software.
- Designing data oriented software using Oracle database technologies.
- Developing web based application servers (middle tier) using Microsoft technologies: Win32API, ISAPI, COM, .NET, including troubleshooting and performance tuning.
- Developing web based front-end solutions using HTML, AJAX and scripting languages.
- Distributed file systems, distributed database systems, load balancing and clustering, fault tolerance and disaster recovery.

Oracle & Reporting Team Lead
Job Overview
The Oracle and Reporting Team Lead will participate in the design and implementation of Siterra's core-level Oracle architecture as well as Siterra's Reporting architecture. The position will design, and implement critical business subsystems through disciplined analysis and participate in ongoing support and maintenance of business subsystems and databases. The Oracle and Reporting Team Lead will assist in evaluation and selection of technologies and work closely with other senior development staff, project managers, QA etc. to identify and resolve issues.
Functional Skills and Requirements
- Gather requirements - the successful candidate must be able to work outside of immediate team to help identify, vet and winnow database related requirements of software systems in use or development by ---- Requirements gathering will include bringing your deep technical knowledge of database systems and how they scale to the design aspects of the conversation, helping engineering teams think through possible solutions.
- Document requirements - prepare succinct documentation of business, functional and technical requirements and impacts to systems.
- Communicate requirements - be able to present these requirements to different audiences: managers and technical experts to ensure that the requirements are correct and understood.
- Establish coding standards for database applications and acquire buy in towards these standards from database developers and application developers whose code touches databases.
- Project management - be able to create detailed project plans, follow through on requirements, collaborate with te chnical teams to create and adhere to a schedule, and communicate status.
- Communications skills - must be able to communicate at multiple levels within the organization - have the ability to persuade those around you, as needed to accomplish your tasks
- Credibility - the successful candidate will establish technical and business credibility quickly and leverage this credibility to keep databases and database systems many months ahead of the growth curve, more often by means other than acquiring more storage and disk.
- Data Driven Decision Making - the successful candidate will have a passion for making data driven decisions. The candidate will help put in place systems to gather data around database performance, scale and utilization to feed the requirements processes.
- Grasp the bigger picture - the successful candidate will see beyond the immediacy of disk, CPU or application and be able to contextualize and communicate the tradeoffs in database architecture and its impact on application requirements and development.
Work Experience Requirements
- 10+ years of hands on experience in data oriented software development
- 5+ years of hands on experience with Oracle 9i and 10g
- 5+ years of hands on experience with ASP/SaaS/OnDemand software development.
- Past experience should include:
- Design, implement and support Oracle based OLTP systems / relational database schemas using normalization principles.
- Design, implement and support OLAP systems / data warehousing solutions using one or more of the following tools: Oracle OLAP, Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services, Business Objects, MicroStrategy, Cognos, other.
- Design, implement and support reporting solutions using one or more of the following reporting tools:, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, Crystal Reports, Business Objects, MicroStrategy, Intellicus, other.
- Troubleshooting performance problems.
- Writing and debugging PL/SQL scripts and stored procedures.
- Demonstrable experience assessing the performance characteristics of the database and its impact to applications
- Supporting developers in tuning and troubleshooting SQL code
- Using case tools for logical data modeling.
- Using source control to capture database DDL and seed metadata.
- Advantage would be given to candidate that past experience also includes:
- Design physical data modeling
- Design, implement and support Oracle Streams
- Design, implement and support Oracle Partitioning
- Expertise with DBMS kernels
- Supporting multiple Multi-Terabyte databases
- Performing Oracle database server installations and upgrades.
